    Abstract

A review of current literature revealed that the construction industry focus is centered on construction cost, and time reductions. This has seen the construction industry adopt the minimum legislative requirement in the management of construction and demolition waste, resulting in the industry coming under increasing pressure to become more sustainable. As a result the industry has failed to realise the environmental, economic and social benefits of reclamation for the purposes of reuse in new build residential property, in turn facilitating the fragmentation of the reclaimed component sector and construction industry. An amalgam of desktop research, analysis of secondary, and collection of primary data via self administered postal questionnaires and personal interviews allowed for this unique analysis and its conclusions to be made.
