    Abstract

This paper examines the role of arts investment in regeneration and as a method of community renewal and development, to establish whether this process could be used as a model for the regeneration of other deprived areas. Liverpool was chosen for the focus of this investigation. A number of questionnaires were compiled and presented to locals and visitors in the city, to measure the perceived attitudes of those subject to increased investment in the arts. This is backed up with in-depth interviews from professionals in London and Liverpool.
