    Abstract

This is an investigation into the British feminist art practices during the 1970s and the role that the photograph played in the contemporary art world. It will discuss the transition photography made into the gallery space and how it developed its ambiguity. Using the photographer Jo Spence as a case study, it will look at how she used deconstruction, female politics and representation throughout her work and the impact she has had within contemporary art practices.
