    Abstract

This project looks into whether or not open areas in the South east of England will be developed due to the increasing population. I will analyses how Crawley residents feel about living in a town with an increasing population. This dissertation will gain opinions from planners within Government agencies and local authorities on issues such as future development and housing targets. Contrary to popular belief, there is still space available in the south east of England for potential development and it is inevitable that further expansion will occur on strategic gap areas, although green belt areas will remain largely protected.
