    Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to provide businesses with an understanding of cloud computing and the benefits and drawbacks that are associated with it. The project conducted primary research consisting of questionnaires and interviews which assesses business understanding and acceptance of cloud computing. It was found that cloud computing is a concept that will be taken up by businesses' due to the benefits it offers. A recommendation that has been made is that a hybrid cloud is used by organisations as it offers the benefits of cloud computing while minimising the drawbacks. Their has been a limitation with the businesses' cooperation due to data privacy issues. The social impact of using cloud computing is substantial as it can remove the need for hardware allowing everyone to access any required processing power, whilst only paying for what is used.
