    Abstract

This project is an exploration into the use of 3D virtua5l tours and walkthroughs within an academic environment and the benefits that can be obtained by both current and prospective international and EU/home students. The two main focuses of the project are the research into virtual tours and the issues faced by international students in identifying potential universities, encompassing social and technological issues. These are then used to design and model a prototype university walkthrough to establish whether such a concept is relevant within an academic environment and to determine its ability to provide more thorough information to meet the problems identified from the research.
