    Abstract

Over the last 10 years, the World Wide Web has grown and become considerably more interactive. With this birth of service providers such as Flickr, Facebook, MySpace and SlashDot that is known as social media, it has been increasingly more important to be able to adapt and evolve software. The OSGi specification allows for a greater degree of modularity within the Java programming language. With tools such as versioning, hot pluggable code and a environment that contains an abstract of a service oriented architecture, an OSGi implementation is able to run dynamic code. This project entails a journey of creating a social media application that encapsulates XMPP and Twitter to question whether the OSGi specification complements a social media context.
