This report covers the production processes involved in producing a DVD and documentary for the African Women's Forum using a live theatre production of a play as its main focus of example. It identifies the issues encountered within all the functions of production but has as its main focus production management. The pre-production chapter highlights the strategic planning processes involved in managing a production and includes the process of interviews techniques, client relationships, scouting locations and introduces the role of the production manager. The production chapter covers the technical and logistical issues faced when filming at different locations under different conditions. It also examines the technical equipment and manpower requirements. The post-production chapter examines the editing process and covers editing techniques, sound editing, special effects and DVD authoring. The report closes with a reflection on how this project and study years have provided a valuable insight into the needs of the television and film industry.
