    Abstract

An overall aim to test areas of convergence and divergence was identified and supported by relevant objectives. The literature review provided a vast level of concurring information, which is indicative of the current situation, whilst restricting the ability for critical discussion. A suitable research methodology was defined, with an appropriate means for data collection and analysis identified. Primary (interviews and questionnaires) and secondary data was used to explore this topic area.

The data was suitably presented and analysed, this provided a means for contrasting both primary and secondary data to attempt to prove or disprove objectives. The paper finds that there is a high level of cohesion between the two countries industries. The regulation of the industries shares many norms, but the accreditation recognition between the two countries shows disparity. This was shown to be major consideration with regard to a valuers aspiration to practice abroad. It was found that the International Valuation Standards were successful in enabling industry participants to practice in countries where they are adopted, due to an increased level of parity in practice standards. Current methodology and valuation application is again comparable and further utilised between the countries. Although certain variances were displayed, particularly the utilisation of DCF, in the main there were no key findings that would present any potential barriers to restrict a valuer in a different locality. Conclusions and further critical reflections were drawn.
