    Abstract

The concept of sustainable tourism is of growing importance and an increasing number of international commercial and non-commercial organisations engage into the subject area. The expanding awareness among consumers in the developed world might lead to the assumption that an actual transformation of operations in the tourism industry was notably in progress. The reality, though, does not reflect such a tendency. This dissertation examines the current offers of tourism suppliers in Portsmouth and on the internet and compares the outcomes with findings in the academic literature and market research organisations.
