    Abstract

    As it stands there are over 900 steganography applications available on the internet that allow users to conceal data by hiding it within images in a manner that is undetectable by the human eye. This capability provides criminals with a range of possible uses including the smuggling of trade secrets, the secure transmission of illegal images and shielding evidence from law enforcement agencies.

    The aim of this project is to develop a steganalysis tool that can quickly and accurately ascertain if images have had data embedded within them. Furthermore to maximise the tools utility it is expected to achieve this over a range of applications using statistical methods that allow it to operate in an application independent manner
