    Abstract

    This study has looked at why YouTube is so successful in the field of online video distribution. Primarily using secondary data, it has addressed the site's history, the type of people who use the website, what content is available, defined fame and the fundamental reasons as to why people use the site either for personal or professional reasons, copyright infringements YouTube has faced, along with its overall evolution. A conclusion was drawn as to why the site is so popular and its potential for development.
