    Abstract

This dissertation looks at the use of physical and psychological impulses in Grotowski's theatre. The main focus is the actor's body, how it is used and why it is important in theatre. I look at the revelation of 'truth' in the theatre and the actor-spectator relationship in Grotowskian theatre
