The project describes the design of a CAL package for Use Cases that helps 1st year computing students in their understanding of use cases including its diagrams, descriptions and how it is used in software development. The package will teach the student how to apply UML use case diagrams to real life situations and hopefully by using the package they will be confident enough to draw the use case diagrams on their own. The project required investigation into the different teaching methods such as the constructivist and behaviorist approaches. The different approaches were critiqued to find out which ones were best suited to creating a CAL package. It was also necessary to look into the history of CAL packages to see how they have progressed over the years and how they can be improved. A brief investigation was also carried out on the subject matter which in this case is use cases. The final package was developed using Macromedia Authorware which provides the opportunity of having the package as an online tool or transferred onto CD.
