    Abstract

In an increasingly shrinking world, companies who have seen the huge potential in increased revenue through an e-commerce market are constantly required to seek new sources of competitive advantage almost on a daily basis. For small companies, this fact is critical. What differs between competitors is their innovative capacity. The web is now a powerful, dynamic network of feature-rich applications; mainstreaming its way into these applications is Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), a technique used to bring interactivity and responsiveness to web pages. This project sets out to investigate the benefits of combining e-commerce with Ajax and further new and emerging technologies to develop a full Web 2.0 rich internet application.
