    Abstract

A close examination of the themes explored in young adult fiction, with supporting evidence gained from three young adult novels. A plethora of secondary research from the likes of Tessa Krailing, David Silwyn Williams, Mary Kole and Margaret Clarke will be used to form this discussion and allows this essay to address preconceived notions about the content explored in young adult fiction and whether this allows for a limited readership. This essay will also critically evaluate my own creative artefact, which is a science fiction, young adult novel dealing with loss and the need to be accepted.
