    Abstract

The purpose of this project is to critically assess maintenance strategies that happen in the UK and the evaluation of them in Cyprus.
Every estate either is a building or a part of equipment that belongs in a building has to go through a complete maintenance, at some time, for a longer life span.
The project’s objectives were being set after the big dilemma to repair or to replace and are as follow:
    a) Critical evaluation of the factors in order to determine whether a building or a part of equipment in the building are worth to keep or to take over.
    b) Troubleshooting and fault finding methods are disciplines that must be managed and implemented.
    c) Establish the UK’s maintenance strategies and then applied to Cyprus.
This paper data is based on a number of interviews carried in the UK and a questionnaire with 13 questions with answers from both UK and Cyprus.
The value for this research is to fulfil a cost effective maintenance in Cyprus by establishing maintenance strategies used in UK.
