    Abstract

This dissertation will examine ethnic and social diversity on women’s magazines with particular focus on Vogue and Cosmopolitan to further understand how sparse the use of non-white cover models is. It will also assess linguistic diversity across the two magazines, with the use of two case studies to fully understand the differences.
A literature review will also be used, featuring key texts from Naomi Wolf and Helen Gurley Brown, to analyse existing opinions on the topic and how they interlink with one another, with consideration to how many texts on the subject are dated, with ever-changing attitudes to racial diversity and feminism as key issues.
