    Abstract

This project investigates who will dominate the television industry in the future. Netflix is identified as the leading player in video on demand services and HBO as an exemplar for quality scheduled television, as both are considered leaders in their own field. This dissertation examines how each company is exploring the others business model and whether the power these organisations have accumulated gives them the opportunity to influence or dictate the future platform of the television industry. The student investigates the quality and convenience of both Netflix and HBO to determine what makes them profitable. Primary research investigates the same through the use of a questionnaire survey of the general public. This indicates that a majority of participants believe the future of television will be broadcast via video on demand only.
