    Abstract

The aim of this study is to conduct an investigation with various types of microphones to determine the advantages and disadvantages of their fundamental functions, designs and to draw a conclusion as to which microphones can be used depending on the situation.
I will be recording an array of instruments such as guitar bass and drums. I will be recording the takes with multiple microphones at the same time to be able to compare the microphones with the exact same sound source so as there is no controversy.
I will also conduct questionnaires and surveys to determine the opinion of my peers to achieve an understanding of the desired preference as well as any experiences.
