    This project aims to conduct an investigation into the key principles of sonification and auditory displays exploring the key principles and processes required when mapping data to different parameters of audio. The paper will discuss research which has been done in the field of sonification as well as key findings and similar projects. The preliminary research will provide a basis for the methodology and development of the artefact which is included with this paper. The artefact will be an all purpose sonification tool which can be used to explore scientific data or to create music.
