    Abstract

This project has aimed to explore if IP can truly be the future of broadcasting by looking at the IP infrastructure in comparison to the reliable traditional means of broadcasting. In depth secondary research has provided an insight into what the industry has to say and opinions from Newtek, the industry-leading IP production Technology Company and Ross Video live production manufacturer has helped conclude if IP is the future. It has shown most broadcasters are shy to emerge from their private networks, although some manufacturers are easing them into the idea with IP interoperability. With the success of VoD and streaming services it is clear that IP has already made an impact on broadcasting delivery, however contribution networks are yet to be enlightened with IP networks.
