    Abstract

This research attempts to not only consider the trend of African cloths or fabrics and its exposure to Western society but also aims at considering whether its recognition and usage is accompanied by the values and meanings attached to them. I therefore intend to "investigate African cloths or fabrics in Ghana and its exposure to western society". I will focus on the values and meanings that by tradition and culture are attached to a Ghanaian traditional cloth - Kente Cloth. I will examine the original traditional values and meanings attached to the Kente cloth or fabric. And justify the modern influence this traditional fabric has received in relation to its values and meanings as it gains significant usage and exposure to Western society.
