    Abstract

The Design and Build procurement had been introduced in Malaysia for over a decade and is slowly replacing the conventional type procurement especially in public sector. Many believe Design and Build procurement will impact the modern construction industry in a positive way. However, many Design and Build projects that were carried out in the past failed to meet the expectations of client in term of cost. Some of the projects were claimed to have ended up worse that the traditional procurement system.
The research aims to trace the impact of Design and Build implementation on the construction industry in Malaysia. The research also aims to improve the current Design and Build implementation process from contractors in Malaysia by highlighting the current weakness within existing Design and Build procurement system and by developing methods for improving the current Design and Build practice.
