    Abstract

An in depth study into the rise of commercial television to where it is today and the increasing threats posed to the medium by evolutions in technology.
This study uses a combination of information from the television industry, media experts and members of the public to determine if there is actually a real threat being posed to traditional commercial television by alternate viewing mechanisms, as has been suggested over the past decade by analysts or if commercial television is alive and well heading into the future.
The study concludes that it is likely that there is still a strong and enduring future for commercial television. In order to make this possible, however, the industry will need to adapt and evolve in response the threats posed to it.
