This project explores the capability of the University of Portsmouth’s CCI TV Channel in producing a televised sport broadcast. The project also seeks to discover whether viewers of the channel believe that the CCI TV Channel is a suitable platform for sports broadcasting, and if they should begin producing sports content. This report examines industry professional opinions and sport television industry technology, in order to analyse the CCI TV Channel’s capabilities, utilising them to create a sports broadcast artefact. The results of the study identified elements of production that are essential to a sports programme and also revealed that public opinion recommends that the CCI Channel should begin producing sport broadcasts. The production of the sport broadcast artefact revealed the difficulties and obstacles that must be overcome in order to produce content of this kind, but in doing so, ultimately discovered that the CCI TV Channel does possess the ability to produce sports coverage.
