    This paper mainly presents the investigation which has been carried out on the FRP sandwich panel of footbridge decks under static patch load condition. The high strength to weight ratio property of FRP sandwich panel has a considerable impact on selecting it over the conventional materials especially in bridge decks. Therefore, to understand the behaviour of FRP sandwich panel under static patch load condition, a further investigation has been conducted in this work as a main purpose. In order to fulfil the purpose two methods have been used, namely analytical solutions technique and numerical approach. In the analytical method a theoretical formulations was used to find out the displacement and stresses. In the numerical method a 3D model (FEM) was created to investigate the response of sandwich panel under static loading and to validate the analytical results. The outcomes show that the core contributes the shear rigidity and skins contribute flexure rigidity. Finally, comparisons were made between analytical and numerical results. Relatively, good agreements were achieved between analytical and numerical approaches especially in predicting the tensile stresses over the compressive stresses.
