    Abstract

This study is based on examining whether women’s football is in some capacity underrepresented by the media. It will be looking at the historical aspects of women’s emergence in other related sports; whilst analysing the relationship with the media. It also observes women’s football specifically in terms of its infrequent and inconsistent relationship with the media. Finally, a comparison will be made between the differences in how women’s football is represented and viewed in the United States and the United Kingdom; with the recent London 2012 Olympics in mind. The aims are carried out by the use of journalistic and academic sources and by the analysis of both local and national newspapers.
