    Abstract

In the growing market of Android devices, phones are getting smaller and ever more valuable. This advancement has made them more susceptible to loss and theft. This project explores the world of Android, the current threats and security solutions, and researches the features available to protect the common user. This research gave a focus for the project as a whole and defined the requirements for an artefact to help users in the event of loss or theft. The artefact was designed to give users remote access to their devices and perform a number of operations on the device via a web interface. The developed artefact, named Remote Defender, allows users to locate a missing device from a web interface, lock the device, and even wipe the data from the SD card.
