    Abstract

In this dissertation I will be considering and closely exploring the concept of ‘The Uniform’. The idea that exists around it is a controversial one, and one which great debate stems from. I will investigate if identity is influenced by clothing- uniform in particular or if identity is shaped by personality and the environment around. I have considered the following areas to investigate further to answer the key question, do we adopt the role of occupational uniform as our identity:
    • What defines identity?
    • Do people take on a certain role or persona when wearing a specific uniform or type of clothing?
    • Is it important for us to wear uniform and is it beneficial in today’s society?
