    Abstract

This project focuses on the differences between Traditional Media and Underground Cinema to discover which form of media is portraying the true reality of the London Riots in August 2011. Newspaper articles and Television news reports have been analysed and compared with the way the Riot from Wrong film has portrayed the events of the riots. The project also explores what Traditional Media can learn from the Underground Cinema to show the true reality of a story. The Traditional forms of Media easily lay the blame on the youth generation of London for the riots, however the Underground Film explains how the riots began due to the police attacking a girl and the cuts the government made on the youth funding. This project concludes by discussing if the Traditional forms of Media can learn anything from the way the Riot from Wrong film has portrayed the riots differently, to the Traditional forms of Media for future news stories.
